This panel discussion at the Global Inclusion Conference addressed how the myth of the “American Dream” pervades our international communities’ assumptions but many find themselves, upon arrival, far from the skyscrapers, meritocracies, and land of opportunity they imagined. In this session, inbound practitioners discussed the challenge of setting realistic expectations for the “American Experience” and workshopped approaches for effectively preparing participants for encountering diversity, divisiveness, and disparity in the U.S.
